Minneapolis/St. Paul – Glen Taylor, Chairman of Taylor Sports Group, Inc., the general partner of Minnesota Timberwolves Basketball Limited Partnership (“Timberwolves and Lynx”), this morning confirmed the expiration of the option of Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez to acquire controlling interest in the Timberwolves and Lynx.

Under terms of the purchase agreement, the closing was required to occur within 90 days following the exercise notice issued by Lore and Rodriguez. That 90-day period expired on March 27, 2024.

Under certain circumstances, the buyer could have been entitled to a limited extension. However, those circumstances did not occur.

“I will continue to work with Marc, Alex and the rest of the ownership group to ensure our teams have the necessary resources to compete at the highest levels on and off the court,” said Taylor. “The Timberwolves and Lynx are no longer for sale.”

Tickets are being sold for just NBA Play-In Game 1 at this time and start at $20 per seat. To purchase, fans can visit www.timberwolves.com or call 612-673-1234. Play-In Game 1 will be played Tuesday, April 12 or Wednesday, April 13.  

Fans who wish to secure choice seats for all home Play-In and Playoff games at a discounted price can make an initial payment for a 2022-23 Membership and cheer now, pay later for all postseason action.&nbsp;

The Wolves are tied for the second-most wins since All-Star break (12) and currently sit seventh in the Western Conference. The team is on the road for its next three games beginning tonight at Toronto (6:30 p.m. CT tip), followed by Denver on April 1 (8:00 p.m. CT tip) and Houston on April 3 (6:00 p.m. CT tip). Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the following injury update on forward Jaden McDaniels, who suffered a lower leg injury at the 41.9 second mark of the fourth quarter yesterday at San Antonio:

An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) taken today at Mayo Clinic Square by Dr. Kelechi Okoroha on McDaniels revealed a left ankle sprain. He will be sidelined indefinitely and reassessed in two weeks. Further updates to his progress will be issued when available.

In 67 games (31 starts) this season, McDaniels is averaging 9.4 points on 45.9% shooting, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The NBA today named Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns as the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, February 28 through Sunday, March 5. This is the second time this season and sixth time in his career that Towns has won the weekly award (April 11, 2016, Nov. 20, 2017, Mar. 13, 2017, Oct. 28, 2019 and Dec. 20, 2021). Towns trails Kevin Garnett (15 times) for the most Player of the Week honors in Timberwolves history.  

Towns finished the week averaging 28.0 points on 64.1% shooting, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. He is the only player in the NBA this season to average 20+ ppg while shooting 50% or better from the field and 40% or better from three. Following the 4-0 week by the Timberwolves, he ranks 13th in the NBA in scoring (24.6 ppg) and 16th in rebounds (9.6 rpg). 

The 7-0 center has helped the Timberwolves to a 36-29 record this season, including a 20-12 record at Target Center after Saturday night's 135-121 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.  

In the Feb. 28 127-122 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, the 2022 NBA All Star 3-Point Contest Champion, returned to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and connected on the game-winning three-pointer with 12.4 seconds remaining to defeat the Cavs, finishing with 17 points, four rebounds and three assists on the night.  

The following night, Towns helped defeat the Golden State Warriors on Mar. 1, where he finished with 39 points on 14-of-22 shooting from the field and 8-of-11 from the free throw line, while adding nine rebounds. The 39 points marked his 90th career 30+ point performance, extending his franchise record for most 30+ point games. Of his 39 points, he put up 20 points in the first half, his 10th 20+ point half of the season (69th career). 

On Mar. 4 against Oklahoma City, he added 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, eight rebounds, and three steals, marking his fifth time this season swiping 3+ steals.  

Towns finished the week with a 135-121 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Mar.5, where he led the way for the Wolves with a team-high 36 points on 13-of-17 shooting, including 10-of-11 from the free throw line and 15 rebounds. This performance established his second 35+ point/15+ rebound game of the season (13th career) and extended his franchise record for most such games. Towns added five assists with zero turnovers and three blocks, his third game of the season with 5+ assists and no turnovers (sixth career). Per Stats Inc., Towns became the first player in NBA history to score 35+ points, grab 15+ rebounds, register 5+ assists, block 3+ shots, shoot 75.0% from the field all while having zero turnovers in the same game (since turnovers were first tracked in 1977-78).

Minneapolis-St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves will officially launch the sale of full season ticket memberships for the 2022-23 season TODAY at 9 a.m., giving fans access to the best available seat inventory, a 50% discount on concessions and retail and playoff ticket priority. Season ticket pricing will remain flat next season and include reduced prices in select areas. More than 2,000 lower-level seats are priced below $40 including lower-level tickets starting at just $23 per game.

Beginning with tonight’s game against Memphis, effective immediately, Timberwolves fans attending games at Target Center will not be required to wear a mask while inside the arena. This immediate action follows the City’s lifting of the mask mandate announced this morning.

Timberwolves Statement on Minneapolis COVID-19 Mask Mandate

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has signed guard Patrick Beverley to a contract extension. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. 

Beverley, 33, is enjoying a career year in 2021-22, his 10th in the NBA, averaging 9.2 points, his most since 2017-18 (12.2), 4.4 rebounds, a career-high 4.9 assists, a career-best 1.0 blocks and 1.2 steals in 39 games (35 starts). Originally acquired by the Wolves from the Memphis Grizzlies in a trade on Aug. 25, 2021, he ranks sixth in the NBA in charges drawn this season (15).  

He scored a season-high 20 points, connecting on a season-high 5-of-9 from beyond the arc during Minnesota’s 98-90 win on Jan. 5 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, his 12th career game with five or more three-pointers and his 10th career game registering 20+ points. Beverley has notched two double-doubles this season including tallying his fourth career point/assist double-double, with 11 points and a career-high-tying 12 assists in the Wolves’ 122-104 victory over the LA Clippers on Jan. 3. 

For his career, the 6-1 guard has appeared in 507 regular season games (419 starts) with the Houston Rockets, Clippers and Timberwolves, averaging 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Beverley has seen action in 59 career playoff games (48 starts), including 17 games (seven starts) in last season’s playoffs and has averaged 7.9 points on 41.2% shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.  

The Chicago native is a three-time NBA All-Defensive team selection, including being named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2016-17, his final season with the Rockets. Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 42nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Beverley spent three seasons overseas in Greece, Russia and Ukraine. He signed as a free agent with the Rockets ahead of the 2013 season and was traded to the Clippers on June 28, 2017.

Minneapolis-St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx celebrate Black History Month presented by Deluxe with a variety of planned programming on and off the court throughout the month of February. Black History Month Night will be celebrated on Feb. 16 when the Wolves host the Toronto Raptors.  

Planned activations and programming throughout the month include:  

“The Come Up,” an original content series will feature Black business owners and community leaders in conversation with Timberwolves and Lynx Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Tru Pettigrew. Presented by Deluxe, the discussions will highlight the significance of Black excellence and the importance of uplifting the Black community. Look for episodes of The Come Up on Timberwolves and Lynx digital and social media platforms.  

Timberwolves partner, AAWOL (Athletic Apparel Without Limits) recently dropped its exclusive Minnesota-inspired retail collection featuring hoodie, crewneck, and t-shirt styles. The Black-owned business gives a voice to the next generation through sports-inspired apparel. To purchase a limited time design, visit the Timberwolves Team Store on the skyway or 100 (outside section 108) level inside Target Center.  

A longtime partner of the Wolves and Lynx, RISE (Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality) is a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice, and improve race relations. Presented locally by U.S. Bank, RISE’s Champions of Change virtual experience will come to life for fans to explore during game days at Target Center on Feb. 24, Feb. 25 and Mar. 1.  

The Timberwolves and Lynx in partnership with Deluxe will also host a Career Development Training Camp on Feb. 25 working with The Black Men’s Success Initiative. The camp is a series of 90–120-minute symposiums, designed to educate, inspire, and empower BIPOC and other historically marginalized youth and young adults with actionable insights, and relevant information that will help them secure and achieve long term success in their career choices. 

A new episode of Wolves+ will feature Timberwolves and Lynx Vice President of Basketball Development John Thomas. The Bally Sports North produced podcast and show will air later this month and include a candid conversation with host Marney Gellner. 

In partnership with WCCO Radio, Pettigrew and Rebekkah Brunson will participate in a virtual Black History Month roundtable with morning news host Vineeta Sawkar.  

Previously announced, the new Education Station, powered by Xcel Energy, will visit four area Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the Twin Cities. At each visit, up to 100 youth will select a book of their choice and receive a book bag of fun and special items. The Education Station will be stocked with books celebrating Black writers and authors, and stories with Black protagonists. 

All in-arena entertainment will spotlight Black artists and performers including pre-game, anthem, and halftime performances. On-court, players will wear special Black History Month warm-up t-shirts, designed in collaboration with the NBPA.   

Additionally, the Iowa Wolves will debut themed jerseys recognizing Black history for its Feb. 14 game. The team collaborated with local arts nonprofit ArtForce Iowa to create and design the jerseys which will be auctioned to benefit I’ll Make Me A World in Iowa: Iowa’s African American Festival.  

T-Wolves Gaming visited the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery. The museum preserves, records and celebrates the history, art and culture of Blacks in Minnesota through exhibitions, programs and community events. T-Wolves Gaming had the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the contributions and achievements of African Americans in the state. 

Black History Month Night – Feb. 16 vs. Toronto Raptors 

The night will feature Jovonta Patton singing the national anthem and Jamela Pettiford performing Lift Every Voice and Sing. Halftime will include a special performance by Duniya Drum & Dance and on-court recognition of Phyllis Wheatley Community Center and Ujamaa Place by the NBA Foundation. The local organizations are recipients of the NBA Foundation’s latest grant round recognizing their ongoing work to increase economic opportunities for young Black women and men.  

As part of the organization’s guest chef platform which spotlights BIPOC-owned businesses within Fhima’s Test Kitchen, Lutunji’s Palate will be selling their signature Peach Cobbler throughout the night. The evening will also highlight new food partners, Soul Bowl and Nashville Coop. The BIPOC-founded and owned businesses joined Target Center this season and are local favorites offering reimagined healthy soul food and authentic Nashville style hot chicken, respectively. 

“Black excellence, reflecting on Black history, and spotlighting the central role Black people play within society extends beyond February,” said Pettigrew. “It’s vital we continue to hold space for the Black community during this month, but actively pursue racial equity during the eleven other months of the year. As an organization, we continue to build bridges with our BIPOC communities and uphold values of equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all.”
