Southfield’s Sabrina Anderson to be Recognized at The Palace on December 5
Pistons and American Red Cross Present Michigan Heroes Award

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Pistons and American Red Cross - Southeastern Michigan Chapter will honor 11-year old Sabrina Anderson of Southfield with The Detroit Pistons and American Red Cross Michigan Heroes Award. On December 5, Anderson will be recognized on The Palace court at halftime of the Pistons’ 7:30 p.m. game against the Portland Trailblazers. Glen Hendricks, Director of Emergency Services for the American Red Cross - Southeastern Michigan Chapter and a Pistons player will honor Anderson with a Michigan Heroes medal at center court for her heroic, life-saving efforts in October 2006. Anderson has also been awarded the opportunity to be a Detroit Pistons Ball Girl at the game courtesy of Total Health Care as part of “Detroit Pistons - Total Health Care Calendar Night.” The first 20,000 fans to arrive will receive a 2007 Detroit Pistons Calendar courtesy of Total Health Care.

Anderson, 11, saved several neighbors from a severe fire in her apartment complex in Southfield during October 2006. While getting ready for school, she heard fire detectors going off in her building. She went into the hallway and saw smoke pouring from a nearby apartment before immediately springing into action. Anderson went door-to-door to warn others of the fire. Thanks to her lifesaving efforts, nobody was injured. The Southfield Fire Department calls her a hero.
