Anderson, 11, saved several neighbors from a severe fire in her apartment complex in Southfield during October 2006. While getting ready for school, she heard fire detectors going off in her building. She went into the hallway and saw smoke pouring from a nearby apartment before immediately springing into action. Anderson went door-to-door to warn others of the fire. Thanks to her lifesaving efforts, nobody was injured. The Southfield Fire Department calls her a hero.
