• City Park Planting—June 20, 2008
    Hornets staff members recently spent a day working to revitalize City Park by weeding, landscaping and planting flowers. The organization’s front office staff will be participating in other community activities throughout the off-season to show their commitment to the rebuilding of the city and to give back to the community

  • Fan Up Second Line—May 2, 2008
    Hugo, Honeybees and the Soul Rebels marched in a second line down Decatur from Café du Monde to Harrah’s Casino and then through the French Quarter to celebrate Fan Up Friday and the second round of the playoffs

    Hugo and Honeybees rode in a Hornets Fan Up decorated streetcar down St. Charles Ave. cheering and passing out giveaways to celebrate Fan Up Friday.

  • Hornets Fan Up Playoff Pep Rally—April 17, 2008
    Nearly 4,000 fans attended this event on Fulton St. that included an entire team appearance, music by The Topcats, Hugo, Honeybees, Used to Bees, Hornets Drum Line and emcees Rob Nice and Brittany

  • Free Music Fridays in Mandeville—April 11—June 7, 2008
    The Hornets are a presenting sponsor of this live concert series on the Northshore that includes appearances by Hugo and Honeybees
  • Second Harvest Food Drive—April 6, 2008
    Fans were encouraged to donate five canned food items prior to the Hornets vs. Warriors game in exchange for a Chris Paul youth jersey. Donations exceeded 6,000 pounds which will provide more than 4,700 meals to hungry residents, making it one of the most successful food drives at a professional sporting event in Second Harvest history
  • Ochsner Hospital Visit—March 6, 2008
    Jannero Pargo and Peja Stojakovic visited the pediatric and chemo units at Ochsner Hospital to visit with children and bring a smile to their day
  • Junior Honeybee Dance Clinic—March 2, 2008
    150 girls between the ages of 5-12 participated in an afternoon with the Honeybee squad learning a new dance routine to perform in-game at the March 5 game
  • Guys and Dolls Bridal Expo—Feb. 25, 2008
    Weddings Noir magazine partnered with the Hornets to provide wedding resources to brides-to-be before the Hornets vs. Wizards game. About 35 tables lined the concourse with information on photographers, locations, dresses and salons
  • Rasual Butler Wellness Drive—Feb. 20 and 22
    Fans were encouraged to donate personal wellness items such as soaps, shampoo and other toiletry items for Rasual’s drive to donate to youth organizations in South Africa
  • “Black Magic” Post-game Screening—Feb. 20, 2008
    Directly following the Hornets vs. Mavericks game, fans were encouraged to stay in their seats to watch a one-hour screening of ESPN’s “Black Magic” film. The film tells the story injustices that characterized the Civil Rights Movement through the eyes of basketball players and coaches who attended mostly Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Chris Paul joins a celebrity cast of narrators including Academy Award Nominated actor Samuel L. Jackson and jazz great Wynton Marsalis
  • Krewe of Mardi Paws Parade—Feb. 10, 2008
    Hugo was honored as “celebrity monarch” and led hundreds of dogs and their owners in this annual Northshore parade. Hornets Drumline, Stingers and staff members also marched through the parade, and our sales crew had a table with an enter-to-win drawing for an autographed team basketball
  • All-Star Balloting Playground Event—Feb. 7, 2008
    David West spent an evening playing basketball games with approximately 100 kids from the Jefferson Parish Recreation League as a thank you for the entire league filling out over 70,000 ballots during All-Star voting
  • Endymion Parade—Feb. 2, 2008
    Hugo rode in the most exclusive Mardi Gras parade, tossing beads and stuffed dolls to thousands of fans
  • Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Basketball Clinic—Jan. 27, 2008
    Hilton Armstrong and Julian Wright taught about 100 kids basic basketball skills at a clinic on the campus of UNO
  • Jefferson Parish Family Gras Sports Saturday—Jan. 26. 2008
    The Hornets sponsored “Sports Saturday” at the Metairie outdoor event, where fans were encouraged to wear their favorite team’s gear. Family Gras is an outdoor weekend festival in Metarie with live concerts, parades and other activities. Hugo and Honeybees were on hand to interact with fans
  • Krewe of Little Rascals Parade—Jan. 20, 2008
    Hornets staff members, family members, Honeybees and the Bookmobile walked in this family-oriented Mardi Gras parade, tossing books, bookmarks and Hornets All-Star beads
  • Young Leadership Council’s “Wednesdays at the Square”—October 2007
    Hugo, Honeybees and our sales staff set up a table every Wednesday at this weekly event which draws several thousand people to listen to live music and enjoy food and drinks in a downtown park
  • Young Leadership Council
    12 Hornets staff members joined and are active in the YLC to find ways outside of the organization that the Hornets could be represented throughout the community
  • Hornets Swarm at the Square Tip-off Luncheon—Oct. 29, 2007
    The entire team made an appearance at this lunchtime pep rally where we provided lunch to approximately 2,500 attendees who enjoyed Honeybee autographs, hot dogs and player autographs
