January 10   Traded guard Sherman Douglas to the Boston Celtics in exchange for guard Brian Shaw.
April 10 Placed guard/forward Willie Burton on the injured list for treatment for depression. Signed forward Winston Bennett to a 10-day contract.
April 19 Cleveland's victory over Atlanta clinches a spot in the NBA Playoffs for Miami for the first time in franchise history. The HEAT is the first of the four new expansions teams to make the playoffs.
April 20 Activated guard Jon Sundvold from the injured list. Glen Rice is named Edge NBA Player of the Month for April.
April 24 The Chicago Bulls host Miami in the HEAT's first ever playoff game. Chicago wins, 113-94, at Chicago Stadium.
April 26 Miami makes its first appearance on network television. In a game telecast on NBC-TV, the HEAT loses to Chicago, 120-90, at Chicago Stadium. Dick Enberg and Magic Johnson announce the game for NBC.
April 29 The HEAT hosts the first playoff game played at Miami Arena, losing to the Bulls, 119-114.
May 14 Steve Smith is named to the 1992 All-Rookie First Team.
June 24 The HEAT selects guard Harold Miner from the University of Southern California with the 12th pick in the NBA Draft. Miami also selects forward Isaiah Morris from Arkansas (37th overall) and center Matt Geiger from Georgia Tech in the second round (42nd overall).
July 1 Did not retain right-of-first-refusal on guard John Morton and center Alan Ogg.
July 23 David Halberstam is named the HEAT's radio voice. Eric Reid remains the HEAT's television play-by-play broadcaster.
September 8 Traded 1993 first-round pick and the draft rights to forward Isaiah Morris to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for forward/center John Salley.
September 9 Signed forward/center John Salley to a contract extension.
September 22 Dr. Jack Ramsay is named HEAT television color analyst.
October 8 Signed second-round pick Matt Geiger and forward George Ackles and guard Carlos Funchess. Re-signed guard/forward Keith Askins, guard Kevin Edwards and center Alan Ogg.
October 10 Signed first-round pick Harold Miner. Re-signed Bimbo Coles.
October 19 HEAT and Chicago Bulls play a preseason game at Miami Arena to benefit the victims of Hurricane Andrew. Over $500,000 is raised for the relief efforts.
October 28 Waived forward George Ackles and guards Carlos Funchess and John Morton.
November 4 Waived center Alan Ogg.
November 14 Re-signed forward Grant Long.
