March 23rd, 2007 | Conseco Fieldhouse| Miami HEAT - 70 | Indiana Pacers- 95
HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley
On the game:
“We just did not bring anything at all to the game and with their sense of urgency, the game was really over in the first quarter. We’ve got to gather ourselves. We’re ok if we bring energy and effort and we had none of it tonight. We got a lot of good looks. We just didn’t convert. I can’t believe they’ve lost 12 of the last 15 games, the way they played tonight. They were very good. We’ll just wait and see tomorrow.”
HEAT Forward Udonis Haslem
On the game:
“Indiana just played better. They attacked the paint and we just took jump shots; jump shots we should have made.”
HEAT Guard Jason Williams
On the game:
“We should have tried to defend more; we should have made our jump shots too.”
HEAT Guard Eddie Jones
On the game:
“They just made shots. For us, nobody made shots…and nobody defended tonight. It’s a bad loss but it’s just one game. We just didn’t have it tonight.”
Indiana Pacers Head Coach Rick Carlisle
On the game:
“We had a great game against Atlanta. We had played three and half terrific quarters against Houston. I think our guys are tired of losing and played together with a concentrated effort. Our shot making was there early. Granger and Dunleavy got us off to a great start. We know these games are of great significance because the playoff race is so tight. We have to do everything possible to protect our home court. Dunleavy’s shooting has improved steadily since he’s been here. He’s worked on it and he’s getting more confidence with how we play. Shaq is such an underrated passer. They give him the ball and they have a lot of movement and you have to defend the cuts. We got a little lucky because they missed a lot of shots they normally make. But our defense was pretty good.
Pacers Forward Jermaine O’Neal
On the game:
“It’s pretty good to get a win. Tonight we did what we wanted to do. We set the tone in the first quarter. We made shots and shared the ball on offense. We feel like we match up well with their team. We have to continue it in the next game. It was a good win. Now we have a tougher task and that’s to stay in the playoff race. Almost every game is a must win. Tonight we had a lot of guys step up.”
Pacers Center Danny Granger
On the game:
“We came out right from the jump. We got some stops on defense. Tonight we put together a great defensive effort. We were helping each other out on Shaq.
