Celtics Dance Team + Maine Hype Team

The Boston Celtics Dancers and Maine Hype Team are precision dance teams that perform at all home games and other events to bring spirit and energy on and off the court.

All candidates must be (i) at least 18 years of age, and (ii) execute the Celtics' standard release, waiver, and authorization for use of photographs prior to participating in the audition(s).

What we are looking for:

Advanced dancers with talent in hip hop, jazz funk, pop, traditional jazz and breakdancing.
Dancers must be able to learn stylized choreography and perform in unison.
Seeking individuals that learn and retain choreography at a fast pace.
Individual’s must have strong time management and communication skills along with a flexible schedule.

Important Information:

Beginning August [ ], 2024, Entertainment Team members will be required to (a) participate in at least three (3) two-hour practices each week (typically held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays), (b) perform at all Celtics home games during the 2024-25 NBA season (including playoffs, as applicable), and (c) participate in occasional appearances at events within the Greater Boston area as requested.
Appearances include performances, meet & greets, photos, Q&A sessions and more!
Practice will be held Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 7:30-9:30 PM.^*

^*Dates may move around due to games.

Games and appearances will be on a rotating basis; this may include weekends and holidays.
There will be multiple appearance/performance requests throughout the season outside of games, that we will ask members to attend based on availability.^*

^*There will be multiple internal/external appearances throughout the season that we will ask people for their availability on. Appearances include performances, meet & greets, photos, Q&A sessions and more!

Application Instructions

All candidates must register online. Included in registration:
Two (2) current photos.
Resume, including full work and performance history, and two (2) professional references.
Audition video (OPTIONAL, PLEASE SUBMIT ONLY IF YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE LIVE OPEN CALL on May 11th.)
Must be a video link from YouTube, Vimeo, or Dropbox.
Video Submission Requirements
Introduction with full name, where you are located and one fun fact about you. We want to see your personality!

Example: “Hi My name is Celtics Lucky, I’m from Boston and I live at TD Garden. A fun fact about me is that I can flip 25 times in a row with my eyes closed!!"

One (1) minute dance video showcasing movement in either jazz, hip hop or jazz funk.

2024 Audition Timeline

Submit your application and (i) attend the Open Call on 5/11/24, or (ii) submit an audition video when you submit your application below.

Location: Suffolk University Gymnasium
Time: 9 AM - 1 PM

Please arrive 30 minutes early for check in.

Attire: Athletic sneakers with non-marking soles. Professional hair and makeup required. No big jewelry. Tattoos do not need to be covered.

Emails will be distributed to applicants who are invited to participate in Final Auditions for the Celtics Dance Team and/or the Maine Hype Team.
